Overall, I really wish GNOME was good! Unfortunately, in its current state, it kinda isn't. What I have heard repeatedly from other people after doing this experiment is that GNOME keeps failing to listen to, communicate with, and value contributions from power users and other "outsiders". In addition to struct syntax, there were lots of other features originally planned (sig syntax, record extension, module includes, etc.) that I only originally proposed for the sake of emulating OCaml-style module syntax. With struct removed from the language, 1SubML wasn’t going to be emulating OCaml syntax anyway, so there was no point in including any of that other stuff either.
